Are you still struggling with the same addiction? Still having a war with bad habits? you wish you can be a better person, someone who has different confidence level, who has different kind of body types, noses, body weight, etcetc… Its a never ending list anyway…
We all have one or more thing we don’t particularly like about ourselves, or maybe it showed itself with the pattern of always having something to complain about our lives… Well, that’s normal, I did that, and sometimes I do fall in the same old pattern, but the good news is we can enjoy our journey, where we are right now, while we’re heading to our goals, to the place where we want to be.
I just wanted to share one or two words of encouragement, for you who accidentally come across my blog, and who knows, maybe somebody out there needs this kind of encouragement?
What is it in your life that you wanna get rid of? The “always late” habit? That belly fat? Those unhealthy, binge eating habit? Whatever, you mention! We always have something to be improved or to change in our lifes for the better, and I do believe that we are well able to do that? Why, you say? Because I believe that God has provided us the strength to live the best life He provided for us by Jesus sacrifice. Jesus didn’t die for us so we can have a mediocre, average, defeated, self rejection life, wouldn’t you agree?
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13 NLT)
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:10 NLT)
We need to take ONE DAY AT A TIME. But if I translate it to our topic it would be, ONE HABIT AT A TIME. Start with one habit, and work on it, diligently, daily, until you get the result you want.
For that to take place, we need to keep good perspective on OUR JOURNEY. And what is it? Keep thinking about the goal, keep thinking for the slim you, the patient you, the punctual you, the nicer you. Its important for us not to think about how overwhelming our bad habits had taken us? What should be sacrificed, and how hurtful it will be? No, none of them is equally important to what God has in store for you, none of them is worth to be compared to how great your life would be if you develop those good habits.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:17, 18 NLT)
Right now I’m also developing new habit to drink only water, or non sweetened beverages for most days of the week. I’ve been wanting to develop healthy habits but never have enough courage and determination to finish it. But knowing this truth sets me free. I don’t have to burden myself with so overwhelming bad habits list that need to be changed, but I just need to take one habit at a time, and use the strength God gives me one day at a time.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. (Matthew 6:34 NLT)
What about you? Are you ready to change ONE HABIT AT A TIME? Are you ready for the rich and satisfying life in front of you? I hope so, and pray so.
